HPAIR'22 - Speakers Acumen

Namasthe Bibliomaniac,

Namaste Learners,

I was inclined with the Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations - Asia Conference HPAIR ACONF 2022 ln, which was held at IIIT-Delhi from 20th August to 24th August with almost 400 - 500 in-person delegates from a vast experiential cohort to grab insights from world-class business speakers.

This served to be the best in the class conference which is conducted in different parts of the world every year, This year at Delhi.

The theme of 2022 is - Finding the Future

I got the chance to grab the insights from the speakers and managed to put them in a raw way to get the flavor of it.

Read to know the acumen that I grabbed from the speakers,

I am attaching the LinkedIn link nearby the speakers' names.

I was shocked by the fact that was put forth by an acting politician that “If they can talk anything, they are capable of becoming a politician” - the crowd was delighted by hearing this.

“We are all on the planet together, we have to do to the planet together”

He insists that we have to think about nature and the planet collectively which we destroyed for our personal use. It then makes sense to people to engage with nature without destroying it.

Miguel Suriano -  An engineer turned banker or a finance-based businessman with an open mind that helped him choose an MBA in finance, eventually becoming an eye opener.

He says financial inclusivity is the present and upcoming trend that every finance-based business should adopt, which enables customer connectivity as a better part of the business.

Few Insights:

# Access to energy is a basic right

# Climate medication & Climate adoption & Climate Resilient

# Invest more in nature-based solutions

# Learning new things every minute is important

# Education provides a tremendous amount of foundation - Mark your foundation strong and then jump into the field

# All the new age Start-ups are exceptional cases

# Climate change takes heavy investment

# Be - Engaged

To achieve Infinite Fintech, Knowing your customer and their needs will help you a lot.

Becoming profitable is great, but the path to profitability leads you and your business to profits.

I was wondering, how an engineer without a finance base/background can dwell in the field, Mr.Miguel explained that engineers study way bigger and hefty math concepts that minimize the pressure to grab the simple basics of finance.

Me being an MBA student, I connect to the fact and experience the same.

Ranveer Chandra ln

Two Values or principles that Mr.Ranveer feels that the present generation needs to inculcate are,

# Never stop learning

# Think how your work would impact the world

Working on data collection technology in the agriculture sector from Microsoft to engage the future agri-sector completely data and technology-driven to maximize yield and profits.

As a matter of preventing the spread of fake news and the implications of it that boils out to be toxic and sometimes immature too.

Check this,

Facilitators -  Facebook Ads & Google Ads,

Consumer - App Users

Clients - Add Generators

Whereas this has to be reversed such that, Consumers are supposed to be Add generators and clients are the app users. This will change the whole operational quality of the facilitators thus curbing the fake news ecosystem.

Also, the creator economy should be penalized or structured accordingly, whenever a fake news article is established. And it can also lead to the regulation of the creator economy to adhere to the country’s policies that provide the resources.

Anupam Tripathi Wiki

I have watched 3/4 celebrities being interviewed, and some 50/70 on youtube.

I couldn’t grab the enthusiasm that a celebrity gives to the crowd, but with Mr.Anupam Tripathi, I got to grab the 500% energy from him.

This energy consists of humor, his experiences, his struggles, his determination, his approach towards life and cinema and his career, and finally the way he expressed them.

He said,” learning is a trait that everyone should learn.”

I felt this was funny, thinking abt the context but it took a minute while I was writing the blog. I realized that we both had the same perspective on learning as most of them have, but it hit me hard.

# Set the goal audacious

# Know how to do things

# Always think big

# Do more to learn more

# Suck your brain to reach the goal

# When big countries create, adapt, and succeed in better schemes, smaller countries appreciate them and adopt them easy to grow.

# Government

# Society

# Market

# Change

Consider these options, when you are trying to solve a problem.

You will create a solution that includes at least 2 of the above which is the solution for a country or world to accept change.

Got to know about some of the stats that uplifts the payment ecosystem of UPI into the Indian Market and the hope of ONDC into the Indian Market.

Good marketing kills a bad product.

Obsessing about a specific technology is of no use, technology flies with time and need.

“Approach life with curiosity, not with fear and not having the judgment of failure”

Don’t take setbacks personally,

Use it as the next step to becoming exceptional

For a company, the reason to come and the reason to stay are way different.

These were some of the insights showered on us by Mr.Kunal. And also a lesson was taught to gen Z  about real researchers and news/facts readers. Attaching a tweet to know about it Tweet link

Gaurav Gupta ln

Mr.Gaurav Gupta’s insights astounded me and the crowd.

He asks us to make decisions based on society and the environment.

We as employees should take the chance to ask questions to the employers about the company’s environmental and societal goals that tremendously change the world.

Questions like,

# What are your Gender Parity Goals

# What are your Strong Climate Commitments

# Are you producing products that are environmentally and socially sustainable?

# How do you protect user's data

All the upcoming employees demand a change and consider the job after promising the society’s transformation, it's the change that all of us wanted.

And implying more, this gets executed when the mindset of the employees is fixed and the corporate aligns to the bizarre mindset that brings in a change.

We are in a world, where demanding change is kind of ghosting someone.

And, I was left with a question, How will this kind of behavior/action will affect the education sector and how can it be democratized?

Rajiv Memani ln

To become a future leader,

#Ability to Team

# Ability to Collaborate

# Ability to survive in a differentiated group

# Ability to accept different perspectives

To move ahead in your career, you will need,

# Deep Thinking - creative

# Networking

# Learning different things - Learning shouldn't stop

# Collaborating

# Problem-solving attitude

India has a chance to develop if it can grow in,

# Sustainability of natural resources

# Manufacturing of new age technology on home ground

If these areas grow rapidly, India can achieve its goals of sustainability and decreasing poverty by creating jobs.

Critical decisions are supposed to be taken to initiate and dwell in the competing world.

Gaurav Goel ln

“Just because the highway is good to drive, You can't drive veryyyyyyyyyy long”

You have to know, Why and where are you driving?

Intentionality is important for any instance.

He says, the task that you are assigned should purely be aligned to who and what you are going to work on.

And this took to a question like what is Impact?

# Anything that can improve the quality of someone’s life

# Anything intentional

He stills on the fact that the intention of any cause or any action can bring a bigger change in society and themselves.

Aditya Ghosh ln

OMG, I can write a separate blog for the insights that I got from him.

He Starts with “The Winding Flight Path” - His life and career were on a winding path, imagine a flight taking off on a winding path. He describes his career.

Everything he said was based on the quotes that he had in his presentation. I am writing down just the quotes, and if possible will write a separate blog on it.

The Quotes that he imbibe on us were,

“The Opportunity is Staring us”

“Change is Inevitable,

Yet very Hard”

Don't think, What do customers Want?

Think, What do customers Need?

i.e, What will all your customers pay for?

This thinking resulted in INDIGO’s Market share.

“Consistency is the bedrock of any Brand”

“Brain should be Boringly Consistent”

He quoted this when he insisted to be consistent.

“Inspiration is all around us, See it with eyes and Hear it with Ears. We Just have to Know”

“Bringing Profit and Purpose Together, We Can Do Well by Doing Good”

This is something that he followed and applied when he was working for Fabindia.

What is Success?

Success = Impact

What impact can we create from your work?

“Life is a Marathon, Not a sprint”

Be Young and Enthusiastic,

Not Young and Impatient.

When we were expecting him to talk about handling failures, he said,

“Don't be a prisoner of your past achievements”

Your failure shows up when you are overconfident and don't realize that you are failing.

“Find your center and Stretch at your job,

Our role is above and beyond our job” - It is the one that creates an impact that gives you success and thus connects the aforementioned quote.

Best of Efforts V/S Best of Ability - Both are different.

When you cross your ability, you instill the best of your effort there.

Some non-judgemental stuff he put on me was,

# Your biggest auditor is the person staring back at your mirror %%

# We all have the power to make a change $$

# Step out of your comfort zone !!!

# Be aware of what your dream is??

As a whole, learning is contagious, Learn everywhere and every chance you vouch for.
